1,885 Candidates Pass Midwifery Professional Examination, Says Nursing Council

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has announced the results of the last Professional Examination for midwives, noting that 1885 of the candidates that sat for the examination successfully passed.

The Registrar,  NMCN, Faruk Umar Abubakar, made the disclosure at the 59th  Annual General Meeting of the Board of NMCN, which held in October, 2022.

According to him, summary of the results indicated that one thousand, eight hundred and eighty-five (1,885) candidates were successful representing 82% with the breakdown as follows: “(a) Post Basic Midwifery – 660 candidates were successful representing 82% pass; (b) i. Basic Midwifery – 906 candidates were successful, representing 82% pass; ii. Basic Midwifery (Refresher) – 3 candidates were successful representing 15% pass; (c) Community Midwifery – 316 candidates were successful representing 83% pass.

“I am happy to let you know that the Board of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has approved the publication of the Midwifery Professional Examination results at its 59th General Meeting, which took place in October 2022”.

He further stated that Heads of training institutions have also been informed to check their institution(s)' results online starting from Thursday, 20 October, 2022.

“Successful candidates are hereby directed to visit the portal of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (portal.nmen.gov.ng) to apply for registration and licensing on-line with effect from Thursday 20 October, 2022.

“Please note that on-line registration formalities including payment are to be completed within ninety (90) days. Late registration attracts a penalty fee of sixteen thousand, two hundred and fifty naira (N16,250.00) only per applicant after ninety (90) days. Any application initiated and not completed within seven (7) days will be invalid,” the Registrar stated”, he stated.

He disclosed that the next Professional Examination for midwives will be held from Tuesday, 14 March to Friday, 17 March, 2023.
