- Extols his contribution to healthcare in Nigeria
In recognition of his immense contribution towards youth development, societal uplifting, nation building and relentless service to humanity, through his healthcare development efforts, Professor Chimezie Anyakora, CEO of Bloom Public Heath has been honoured with an Award of Excellence by Arewa Youth Advocacy for Good Governance.
Presenting the award at the Abuja headquarters of Bloom Public Health on Tuesday 28 June, 2022, leader of the four-man delegation and National Secretary of the group, Ibrahim Adamu stated that the group deemed it fit to present the award to Anyakora for his exemplary lifestyle in the discharge of his God-given ability towards humanity and his phenomenal contribution to the advancement of healthcare in Nigeria.
In his response, Prof. Anyakora appreciated the group for the recognition, adding that he was excited to see young, enterprising men and women working to move the nation forward in their various capacities. He stated that Bloom Public Health is bridging the gap in public health in Nigeria and across Africa and creating a continent where access and quality of care are sustainably affordable to all.
The Arewa Youth Advocacy for Good Governance is a non-governmental and non-political organisation that has members across the 19 northern states and the FCT Abuja. The group was formed to unite youths across the domain and to address some national issues, particularly as they relate to good governance. The group serves as advocate and promoter of good governance which prepares youths for leadership.
Speaking about Bloom Public Health’s impact, Anyakora explained that the company was born out of the need to create Africa-driven solutions to solve Africa's public health issues, especially in the pharmaceutical sector. Leveraging strategic partnerships and collaborations, Bloom Public Health has over the last two years provided reliable, scalable, and sustainable services in the areas of supply chain management, pharmaceutical quality systems, laboratory strengthening and diagnostics, and policy for public health.
Bloom Public Health has been in the forefront of initiating strategic partnerships towards strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring the availability of quality medicines in Nigeria and beyond. In 2022 alone, the company has achieved the following: signing of an MoU with the Ebonyi State Government and the commencement of the supply chain transformation project and establishment of a Drug Revolving Fund in Ebonyi State; the establishment of the novel, molecular diagnostics laboratory, DeltaPlus Diagnostics in Ogunu, Delta State, Nigeria, which was born out of the partnership between Bloom Public Health, Katchey Laboratories, ND Western Limited, and the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG).
Others are the establishment and ISO 17025 ANAB accreditation of Katchey Analytical Laboratories Complex, born out of Bloom Public Health’s partnership with Katchey Laboratories; research and capacity-building to strengthen the use of traditional medicine in Nigeria through Bloom Public Health’s partnership with the Nigeria Natural Medicine Development Agency (NNMDA), and the weekly publication of 25 public health articles that draw the attention of policymakers, healthcare stakeholders and the public to the pressing challenges in Africa’s healthcare system and provide strategies to address these issues.
