In a significant move to enhance healthcare delivery across West Africa, Bloom Public Health Group and the West African Private Healthcare Federation (FOASPS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership focused on strengthening regional health systems through private sector collaboration.

The agreement was formalised on the sidelines of the 26th Assembly of Health Ministers of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), held in Praia, Cabo Verde. The collaboration aims to address pressing healthcare challenges in the region by developing and implementing innovative, context-driven solutions.

Under the MoU, Bloom and FOASPS will jointly undertake initiatives to improve public health, deliver technical assistance, and reinforce health systems across West African countries. Emphasis will be placed on pharmaceutical manufacturing, diagnostics, and evidence-based health policy development.

“This MoU marks a major milestone in our mission to deliver sustainable and scalable public health solutions across Africa,” said Professor Chimezie Anyakora, CEO of Bloom Public Health. “By partnering with FOASPS, we can harness its extensive regional network to strengthen capacity, drive research, and co-create effective healthcare models tailored to local needs.”

The agreement outlines a wide range of collaborative activities, including stakeholder mapping, baseline assessments, strategic research, and the provision of technical support. It also sets the stage for a series of co-hosted events such as conferences, workshops, and training sessions to empower healthcare professionals and encourage regional knowledge exchange.

Dr Joseph Boguifo, president of FOASPS, hailed the agreement as a turning point for the private health sector in West Africa. “Our partnership with Bloom Public Health is a game-changer. Beyond technical cooperation, the partnership is expected to catalyze cross-border collaboration, mobilise regional resources, and amplify the role of private healthcare providers in achieving universal health coverage. It reflects a broader commitment to inclusive healthcare development in West Africa, particularly in countries facing limited access to quality services.

The MoU underscores both organisations’ shared vision of a healthier and more resilient Africa, where robust public-private partnerships serve as the foundation for sustainable healthcare delivery. As implementation begins, stakeholders across the region are hopeful that this collaboration will drive meaningful improvements in health outcomes and system efficiency. This strategic alliance is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare in West Africa.
