Chairman, Board of Fellows of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (BOF-PSN), Pharm. (Dr) Joel E.B. Adagadzu, paid a courtesy visit to Pharm. (Sir) Ifeanyi Atueyi, managing director, Pharmanews Ltd, on Wednesday, 14, December, 2022. The visit, he said, was to appreciate the continuous support and significant contributions of the publisher of Pharmanews to the Pharmacy profession over the years.
The visit, which took place at the company’s corporate office in Lagos, had in attendance Dr Adagadzu; Pharm. (Chief) Lanre Familusi, secretary, BOF-PSN; and Mrs Vivian Iwuamadi, admin-secretary, BOF-PSN.
Filled with gratitude, the BOF-PSN Chairman explained that the visit was imperative in order to appreciate Sir Atueyi, for his life of dedication not just to the profession but to humanity as a whole and also to seek his blessings.
“Thanks for the monthly publication of Pharmanews, the profession owes you a great debt for bringing it to public attention. Due to your dedication, professionalism, and position as a mentor to many, you have won the hearts and minds of many of us. Every day, even without your knowledge, we pick up so much from you.
“When I became BOF-PSN Chairman, one of the goals my team and I set for ourselves was to ensure that we connected more with those who were senior to us. You were one of those I decided not just to visit, but to pay my respect, appreciate and seek your blessings.
“We also wish to thank you for spending so much time reporting on the BOF-PSN activities, as Pharmanews is one of the most effective media allies to us. Since you are everything to us, it is quite challenging to sum up who you are. I pray that God will continue to bless you with wellness and all-round blessings,” Adagadzu prayed.
In his response, the Pharmanews boss thanked the Chairman for coming over to visit him, as he congratulated him on his first successful year in office.
“I appreciate the visit because we are considered elders in the profession, so people like us should be visited by the younger ones; it makes us happy. I want to also use this opportunity to sympathise with you and the BOF-PSN for the loss of Pharm. Ngozi Obikili, the former treasurer of BOF-PSN. It was a terrible loss,” he said.
Speaking further, Atueyi urged the Chairman to make a difference during his time in office, so that he will be remembered for what he has done, adding that the end is always more important than the beginning.
He said: “You have two more years left to perform, which will require sacrifice. You have to give in your time, money, talent, and everything at this time since you won’t be returning to your position as chairman.
“My prayer is that God will help you to have a successful tenure in office and give you the wisdom and health you require for service.”
Quoting from the Holy Bible in Colossians 3:23, Atueyi admonished the Chairman to serve the Board as though he is serving God, because it is only God that rewards service.
Giving the vote of thanks, Mr Patrick Iwelumor, editor Pharmanews, joined his Publisher in wishing the BOF-PSN Chairman a wonderful tenure in office, adding that his name has always rung a bell which connotes he will achieve great heights.
“We join our Managing Director to wish you, by the grace of God, that by the time you’ll be leaving office, it shall be said that the BOF-PSN and indeed the Pharmacy profession has never had it so wonderful under your tenure in Jesus’ name,” he prayed.
