The President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Pharm. (Mazi) Sam Ohuabunwa has said the PSN Annual Conference registration portal will be opened in May 2021.

He made the disclosure at the Bi-monthly Virtual Town Hall Meeting held on Wednesday, 28 April, 2021. He urged all pharmacists to be ready and do everything possible to ensure that the conference is successful. “We hope that by May, everything will be in place.”

During the meeting, Ohuabunwa commended the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN) on the various programmes they organised for the World Malaria Day 2021, adding that their efforts helped to shape people’s understanding about malaria and how to go about tackling it. He added that because malaria is a globally known ailment, there is a need for more information about it to be disseminated. “I am really excited and more of this should not stop coming up”, he said.

The President frowned at the sales of drugs online, especially on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and websites. According to him, this should be stopped, as it is not the ethical way of doing business especially when it comes to pharmaceuticals. He also berated pharmacists who are in the habit of engaging the PSN in litigations, adding that such pharmacists would face disciplinary action.

He encouraged the different cadres in the pharmacy profession to join hands together to make the association work. “Be it community, industrial, academic, hospital pharmacies. “These fields should all ensure they work together to make this profession a success. Every action you take or you don’t take is what makes you who you are,” he added.
