As at 09:50 pm on Monday, 13 April 2020, there are 343 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria, as 20 new cases were confirmed same day, while 91 infected persons have fully recovered and have been discharged with 10 deaths.
The breakdown of the 20 new cases shows that Lagos, the epic centre of the disease has 13, with 2 in Edo, 2 in Kano, 2 in Ogun and 1 in Ondo.
Reporting update on the situation of the disease in the country, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control made through its Twitter handle , disclosed thatthe virus has spread to 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
It tweeted thus: “Twenty new cases of #COVID-19 have been reported as follows: 13 in Lagos, two in Edo, two in Kano, two in Ogun and one in Ondo.
“Currently, Lagos has 189 new cases, FCT- 56, Osun- 20, Edo- 16, Oyo- 11, Ogun – nine, Bauchi – six, Kaduna – six, Akwa Ibom – five, Katsina – five, Delta – three, Enugu – two, Ekiti – two, Rivers – two, Kwara – four, Ondo – three, Benue – one, Niger – one, Anambra – one and Kano – three”.
Earlier on Monday, Major General (Rtd) Muhammad Buhari had announced a 14-day extension of the lockdown in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun, to curb the spread of the viral infection, while some citizens have condemned the stay at home extension, owing to what they described as huge hunger on the part of the masses, as the distribution of palliative measures is yet to reach them.
