As Nigeria plans towards easing the lockdown come 4 May, 195 new cases of the novel Coronavirus have been recorded on Tuesday by 11: 50pm, with death toll rising from 40 to 44, making a total of 1532 confirmed cases, as revealed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.

The NCDC via its Twitter handle said there were four fatalities on Tuesday, making a total of 44 deaths, with 255 recoveries.
It said: “As at 11:50pm 28th April- 1532 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria, 255 discharged and 44 deaths”
The NCDC further explained that one case was previously reported in Gombe State, but now recorded as a Borno State case, thus making the total number of Borno to be 53, while Gombe is 46.
With the 195 new cases being the highest so far recorded in a day, and 34 states affected out of 36 states of the federation, a lot of Nigerians have began to query the announced gradual ease of lockdown by President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the new figures are scary.

Meanwhile, prior to the announcement of relaxing the lockdown, Pharmanewsonline gathered that there have been agitation from different quarters to call it off, due to untold suffering and hunger inflicted on the masses, especially those who feed on daily income.
