COVID-19: Abia State  Governor, Ikpeazu Tests Negative

Governor Ikpeazu of Abia State who formerly tested positive for COVID-19 has come out negative.

This update was revealed in a statement released by Abia State Commissioner for Information, John Kalu on Saturday, 4 July, 2020.

The Governor had been on self isolation after been tested positive of the virus on the 8 June 2020 with his deputy governor standing in for him since then.

However, a repeated test was carried out on him by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control which returned negative on Friday, 3 July 2020.

The Commissioner for Information, John Kalu in the statement said “To God the glory of God, repeat COVID-19 test conducted by the NCDC on samples submitted by Governor Ikpeazu 2nd July, 2020, returned negative on Friday, 3rd July, 2020″

“Governor Ikpeazu is therefore deemed free of the virus according to the extant guidelines of NCDC and the World Health Organization (WHO)” he stated.
