The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has recorded two new deaths and 126 newly confirmed cases on Sunday.
The health agency says the 126 new infections were recorded from 12 states.
Making the disclosure via its verified Twitter account, the health agency said a total of 58324 cases have been confirmed from the inception of the outbreak, while 49794 cases have been discharged and 1108 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
This comes as the NCDC DG, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu assured Nigerians on the efforts of the agency to make travelling in and out of the country easy.
He said:”We’re working hard to ensure travel into & out of Nigeria is a seamless process for all, while prioritising public health & safety”.
The agency gave the state by state account of the new cases as follows: “FCT (30), Lagos (24), Rivers (23), Ogun (13), Katsina (9), Plateau (9), Ondo (6), Kaduna (4), Kwara (4), Imo (2), Bauchi (1), Edo (1)
“A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities”, it stated.
