Top practitioners in the Nigerian pharmaceutical industry, friends, family, and church members gathered on Monday 13 January, to celebrate Lady Pharmacist Abayomi Olayinka Osinoiki, as she clocks 80 years.
In his sermon at the Holy Communion Service for the Lady Pharm. Osinoiki’s 80th birthday, held at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, GRA, Ikeja, RT Reverend Kehinde Phillips described the celebrant as a devoted Christian, a community leader and an esteemed professional pharmacist who has accomplished a lot through the grace of God.
Picking his sermon from Psalm 103, the clergyman charged the celebrant to start her celebration, taking cue from King David, by thanking God for forgiveness of sins and healing.
“As you celebrate your 80th birthday, it is important for you to start from where David started in Psalm 103, by thanking God who forgives all sins and also as a professional pharmacist who deals in medicines, you need to thank God for healing, Once you appreciate where you are with God, then other things can follow,” the Rev. said.
He also urged the celebrant not to worry over anything, but rather meditate on the words of God as they are written in Philippians 4:8. The preacher said “ as you clock 80, reflect on what God has done, and above all, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things”.
Also speaking at the birthday celebration reception, a former President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Pharm. Olumide Akintayo, who was the chairman of the occasion, praised the celebrant, describing her as a Spartan disciplinarian who looks very quiet and most unassuming.
“There’s so much to thank God for, based on your accomplishments as a wife, as a mother, and as a distinguished pharmacist. For the record, Mama Osinoiki is a Merit Award Winner of the PSN, Lagos State Branch, and that’s the apex of distinguished service of the PSN Lagos State Branch. She’s also a special Fellow of the PSN, you have done well. We appreciate you”, Pharm. Akintayo said.
Giving testimony about the celebrant, the Chairman, West Africa Postgraduate College of Pharmacists, (WAPCP), Dr Margret Obono said the celebrant is a woman of her word, with integrity and hardworking. Also speaking, Dr Dele Adeniran who attended the same church with the celebrant described her as a devoted Christian who loves God.
Showering encomiums on the celebrant, Mrs Pero Olasende Williams, one of the celebrant’s children, on behalf of other children, described her mother as a source of endless strength, wisdom, and unconditional love.
“Your life has been a beautiful tempest of resilience, compassion, and a wavering dedication. You taught us the values of spiritual maturity, you taught us the value of kindness, the value of resilience, godliness, and integrity, shaping us all into the human beings that we are today. Your selflessness knows no bounds”, the celebrant’s daughter said.
