Encomiums as PANS Felicitates its Grand Patron, Ohuabunwa @ 70

Friday 14 August, 2020, was an harvest of tributes for the President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Pharm. (Mazi) Sam Ohuabunwa as Pharmacy students under the aegis of Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS) expressed their profound gratitude to him for his inestimable impacts in their lives.

The students who organised a virtual party to celebrate the 70th Birthday of the PSN President and their Grand Patron, Ohuabunwa, took turn to narrate his positive roles in the association.

Describing him as a mentor of mentors and an ICON of Pharmacy who has achieved numerous milestones in PSN, PANS and the nation as a whole, they said Mazi deserved to be well celebrated.

Daniel Nkaroijo the PANS national president, in his welcome address appreciated all participants at the event as he urged them to emulate the exemplary life of the celebrant who is more than a father-figure to them.

Other speakers at the virtual party including Dr Jonah Sydney Aprioku, PANS staff adviser; Pharm. Alo Setofunmi, 42nd PANS national president; Pharm. Oluwaseyi Akanbi, 43rd PANS national president; Pharm. Mubarak Altine, 44th PANS national president; Pharm. Emmanuel Atoyebi Immediate past president, PANS OAU; among others extolled the great qualities of Ohuabunwa, while appreciating him for his immense contributions in piloting the affairs of the association.

They also acknowledged the celebrant’s support and active roles in PANS and his intervention in clearing the outstanding debts of the association.

The speakers therefore charged future leaders and young pharmacists to emulate the leadership legacy of the celebrant in order to drive the healthcare delivery in the country forward.

In his response, the celebrant thanked all the attendees of the event and well-wishers for their special presentations.

He however seized the opportunity to counsel the green horns on the path to excellence in life, while charging them to desist from making derogatory statements in the ongoing PCN-PSN faceoff.

In attendance were : PSN Chairman Rivers State, PSN-YPG Chairman and Immediate Past, PSN-PANS coordinator, former PANS national presidents, former chapter president of PANS OAU, Chapter PANS presidents and National vice-presidents of UNIZIK, OAU, GSU, ABU, UNIBEN, DELSU, COOU, UNICAL, UNILORIN, OOU and IUO, just to mention a few.
