Elijah Mohammed PhD, the immediate past registrar of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, has received the distinguished honour of being appointed as a member of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) Ethics Advisory Group (EAG).

This prestigious appointment, reflects not only his exemplary leadership within the field of pharmacy but also his unwavering commitment to upholding ethical standards in the profession.

In a press statement announcing his appointment shared with Pharmanewsonline, the apex pharmaceutical body recognised Dr Mohammed’s extensive expertise and significant contributions to the Pharmacy community, emphasising his collaborative spirit and dedication to advancing ethical practices.

Mohammed, an advocate of ethical pharmacy practice, was one of the earliest champions of Consultant Pharmacy Cadre which has been finally given a presidential approval for the upliftment of the profession and practitioners.

A transformative leader and author of a book on transformative leadership, Mohammed was able to resolve a lot of acrimonies and discontent he met within the system before he left the office of the PCN registrar.

Under his watch, the PCN won more than 20 strategic court cases, especially in the areas of specific appropriation of the laws peculiar to PCN. He has also achieved a lot and made a lot of impact in the profession.

The FIP Ethics Advisory Group, established in 2015 and led initially by Professor Betty Chaar, serves a vital role in the global pharmacy landscape.

This group is dedicated to guiding ethical conduct and professionalism among pharmacists worldwide, with its objectives including: Providing expert guidance on ethical and professional matters to FIP and its diverse members around the globe; Supporting FIP’s partners, including organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO), in navigating the intricate areas of ethics and professionalism within the pharmacy sector; Exploring global initiatives and developments that impact the evolving role of pharmacists in healthcare systems, amongst others.
