The Minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama has recently tested positive for Coronavirus.
He made the announcement on Sunday 19 July, noting that the fourth test conducted on him after he experienced throat irritation confirmed he had the disease.
Onyeama further revealed that he is on his way to an isolation centre.
He tweeted thus: “Did my fourth COVID-19 test yesterday at the first sign of a throat irritation and unfortunately this time it came back positive. That is life! Win some lose some. Heading for isolation in a health facility and praying for the best. #StayHomeSaveLives #COVID19 #PTFCOVID19.”
The news came after Onyeama announced that Nigerians that are being evacuated from France, Hungary, Romania, Poland, Norway, Germany, Holland, UK and Canada all tested negative before boarding for Nigeria on Sunday.
As a member of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Onyeama is one of those driving the fight against the pandemic, especially regarding the repatriation of stranded citizens abroad.
Coronavirus cases in Nigeria have risen to 36,663 with 556 new infections, according to figures late Sunday from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Six new deaths were recorded in the West African nation, bringing the total to 778.
