Advancing its commitment to a future that unites science, technology and talent to get ahead of diseases, GSK, a leading multinational pharmaceutical company has showcased its Virtual Reality (VR) Experience to healthcare professionals at the respective 2022 Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conferences of the Paediatric Association of Nigeria (PANCONF), the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) and the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN).
The innovative experience, which was witnessed by scores of industry stakeholders, was designed to specifically tackle some of the challenges healthcare professionals (HCPs) face while administering medicines to patients.
GSK’s VR Experience enabled the use of immersive technology to transport healthcare professionals at the different conferences into a virtual world, thereby enhanced their better understanding of patients’ needs, from diagnosis to treatment. This was achieved through interactive 3D viewings of diagnostic examinations, drugs and devices.
Speaking at the launch, Marketing and Commercial Excellence Director, GSK Nigeria, Ijeoma Eruchalu, noted that the company constantly considers more inventive ways to “better serve our clients, and uphold our commitment to provide patients with the best healthcare available in the country”.
She stated that GSK’s VR experience is part of the multinational pharma company’s initiatives to positively impact the lives of millions of Nigerians through quality healthcare education. It contains information about patients’ experiences and how healthcare practitioners may utilise this knowledge to improve treatment outcomes.
Eruchalu continued: “With this experience, we were able to demonstrate GSK’s values, how our medicines may help a patient get better and stay well, and boost HCPs confidence in prescribing medicines to their patients for improved healthcare outcomes”.
She added: “The GSK Virtual Reality Experience shows that to better serve our customers, we have kept pushing the boundaries of quality with all of our experiences and products. We are therefore dedicated to constantly seeking strategic approaches to challenge industry norms by supporting our healthcare providers to improve the quality of life of their patients”.
The initiative is expected to train hundreds of healthcare professionals, giving them first-hand information on all GSK products, she remarked.
