The serene and beautiful city of Jos, Plateau State came alive again as Nigerian pharmacists across the country stormed the city for the 95th Annual National Conference of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) tagged Tin City 2022.
In a carnival-like style, the elated pharmacists besieged the Yakubu Gowon Hall, Crispan Suites, and Event Centre, the venue of the conference for the colourful Welcome Reception Ceremony.
The enthusiastic pharmacists, who were brimming with smiles, already took to the dancing floor even before the programme commenced formally, while those who could not dance were seen exchanging pleasantries.
Speaking at the reception which had a lot of dignitaries, and some past presidents of the Society in attendance, the PSN President, Prof. Cyril Usifoh, noted that the conference which is his first as the number one pharmacist in the country will be memorable, adding that the people should expect a colourful conference from a beautiful city.
He added that the conference would not be a routine exercise for participants as it promises to be educating, entertaining, and highly rewarding, adding that despite the distance and the situation of the country, all the resource persons, as well as dignitaries are already around.
In his welcoming speech, the Chairman, Conference Planning Committee (CPC), Pharm. Victor Adekanye, noted that the conference has started on a good note with the wonderful experience of participants and the serenity of the city.
He added that the city is pleasant and beautiful, adding that the committee expects that participants will give kudos to the CPC at the end of the conference.
In his speech, notable pharmacists and a Fellow of the PSN, who plies his trade in Jos for several years, Pharm. Chukwudum Josiah Maduneme, popularly known as ‘Dumjos’, said the anticipated fear of low turnout at the conference due to the ravaging flood across the country is now over, as the attendance was intimidating.
Earlier, the pharmacists embarked on a health walk with the First Lady of the state, Her Excellency, Mrs Regina Bako Lalong, on the theme of the conference.
The conference Tin City 2022 holds from 31st, Oct, to 5, Nov 2022, at Crispin Suites and Event Centre, Rayfield, Jos, Plateau State, with the theme “Medicine Security in An Unstable Economy”.
