The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed a church and several businesses across the state for violating environmental laws.
In a statement shared on its X handle on Friday, the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, explained that the enforcement action was part of the agency’s efforts to safeguard public health and ensure environmental compliance.
He noted that the affected areas included Akerele, Ayilara, Eric Moore, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Lawanson, Ijeshatedo, and Aguda in Surulere, as well as Ojota, Femi Okunu Road, and Milverton Road in Ikoyi.
Ajayi listed the establishments sealed during the operation to include Suya Spot, Club Crash, Tea & Coffee Spot, and Salt of Life Prayer Ministry. Others were Esteem Royal Hotels, Paragon Hotels, Cord Hotels & Suites Ltd, House 36, Admax Hotel, C.C. Uche Aluminum Company, a construction site, a bakery, and Milestone Apartment.
He described the enforcement as a response to persistent noise pollution and other environmental violations, which he said posed significant threats to public safety.
“Noise pollution and other environmental violations disrupt the peace and health of our communities. The enforcement action highlights LASEPA’s zero-tolerance stance against environmental violations and underscores our determination to uphold environmental laws,” Ajayi said.
The LASEPA boss also reemphasised the agency’s commitment to promoting a healthier and more sustainable environment in Lagos. He urged residents and businesses to comply with environmental regulations, stressing the importance of adherence to creating a safer state for all.
