As part of activities commemorating World Food Safety Day, Maggi has engaged stakeholders across its value chain in a series of activities aimed at promoting greater understanding of food quality and safety standards.

The initiative brought together suppliers, distributors, consumers, journalists and digital content creators, providing participants with firsthand insights into the processes and partnerships involved in delivering MAGGI products to consumers.

According to the company, the engagements were designed to reinforce the shared responsibility required to maintain food quality and safety from sourcing to consumption.

During the programme, suppliers were taken through MAGGI’s quality requirements and manufacturing standards, while distributors received guidance on best practices in product handling, storage and warehousing to preserve product quality throughout the distribution chain. Consumers also interacted with experts to learn more about the ingredients, production processes and quality assurance measures behind MAGGI products.

A major highlight of the initiative was a guided tour of Nestlé Nigeria’s Agbara Factory, where journalists and digital content creators observed the production process of MAGGI seasoning cubes. Participants followed the journey of locally sourced soya beans from procurement through fermentation and processing to the finished product stage.

The factory tour also demonstrated how traditional African food preparation methods have influenced modern food manufacturing processes. Participants were introduced to fermentation techniques used in MAGGI production, which draw inspiration from traditional seasonings such as iru, dawadawa and ogiri.

Stakeholders were further exposed to the quality assurance and food safety systems integrated into every stage of production, including ingredient sourcing, testing, manufacturing, packaging and distribution.
