Following a disturbing trend on social media in which influencers have been seen threatening or allegedly attempting self-harm using Hypo bleach, Multipro Enterprise Limited has issued a strong warning that Hypo is not a drink and must never be consumed.

This development is in the wake of a heated online argument between influencers King Mitchy and VeryDarkMan. The argument was displayed publicly across social media platforms, and within few hours gathered attention over the social media space. The content of the viral videos shows both personalities allegedly ingesting the product during an exchange over claims of defamation.

The trend has sparked widespread concern, particularly as it follows an earlier reported incident in which a man allegedly consumed Hypo after a relationship breakup, resulting in his death.

Reacting to these trends, the Marketing Manager of Hypo, Adebayo Adeyemo, clarified that the product is strictly a household disinfectant designed for cleaning purposes.

“Hypo is formulated to remove stains, whiten fabrics, deodorise surfaces and eliminate 99.9 per cent of germs. It is not a drink. It is not something to consume for the sake of trends,” he emphasised.

Adeyemo expressed deep concern over what it described as the dangerous misuse of its product in viral videos, warning that ingesting bleach poses severe health risks and can be fatal.

He stressed that the audience of content creators, influencers, and bloggers are real and it is their responsibility to ensure that they do not endanger the health of their audience with false contents.

He further stressed that the trend shouldn’t pressurise anyone into thinking they have anything to prove. The contents of Hypo are detrimental and shouldn’t be ingested either online or offline.

He also urged everyone to prioritise their mental health, evaluate the quality of their conversations with people, seek professional help if required as depression is real and should be treated with utmost concern.
