Residents of Mushin community, Lagos, have benefited from free medical screening and essential medicines as Bond Chemical Industries Limited joined the global community to commemorate the 2025 World Heart Day (WHD) with a health awareness walk and outreach held on 2 October in front of its corporate building in Mushin, Lagos State.

The event, celebrated annually on 29 September, formed part of Bond’s commitment to promoting heart health and preventing cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) among Nigerians through sustained community engagement and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

During the exercise, volunteer healthcare professionals conducted free checks for blood pressure, blood sugar, and malaria, while participants also received health education, lifestyle counselling, and medications to support better heart health.

In his remarks, Pharm. Isaac Melfah, product manager, Bond Chemical Industries, said the initiative underscores the company’s enduring commitment to community health and wellbeing.

According to him, the theme of this year’s celebration, “Don’t Miss a Beat,” serves as a reminder that heart health should be a daily priority for everyone, not just a once-a-year concern. He explained that the theme emphasises the importance of taking proactive steps to prevent cardiovascular diseases, highlighting the need for regular check-ups, early detection, and healthy lifestyle choices to avoid premature deaths from heart-related conditions.

“For us at Bond, corporate social responsibility goes beyond donations. It means improving the quality of life of people around us. Health is at the centre of everything we do, and we are proud to use this opportunity to bring free health services closer to the people,” he added.

While responding, some residents of the community expressed appreciation to the company for prioritising their wellbeing, noting that the outreach was timely and helpful, especially in the face of rising healthcare costs.
