The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Gombe Operations Office, has confirmed a total of 3,421 casualties and 427 houses affected in the Bauchi fire and windstorm disasters.
NEMA made the disclosure from the findings of its assessment of affected communities by the disasters, which occurred on 15 June, 2025.
The Team Lead and Stock Verification Officer, NEMA, Mr Emmanuel Musa Ngitta, in a statement from the agency expressed his sympathy for the victims, assuring them of the role of NEMA in proper documentation and provision of reliefs to them.
He listed communities involved in the tragic events to include Zadawa and Akuyam in Misau LGA, Ningi in Ningi LGA, Miya in Ganjuwa LGA, Dambam in Dambam LGA, and Katanga in Warji LGA.
Among the survivors were children who sustain injuries with their homes been partially or fully destroyed by the fire and windstorm disasters.
