The maiden edition of the Integrated Health, Wellness & Education Conference will be held on 21 May, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel, Lagos, bringing together leading stakeholders from healthcare, education, pharmaceuticals and wellness sectors in a strategic dialogue aimed at strengthening national development through cross-sector collaboration.

Convened by Global Affairs Magazine, the conference is designed as a pioneering platform to bridge three critical pillars of society—health, wellness and education, each of which plays a defining role in human development, productivity and national progress.

With the theme “Bridging Health, Wellness and Education for Sustainable National Well-being” and the guiding tagline “Where Pharma Innovation, Wellness Practice, and Education Leadership Meet,” the event will address pressing challenges affecting young people and wider society, including academic stress, rising mental health concerns, health misinformation and lifestyle-related risks.

The conference seeks to deepen collaboration among pharmaceutical companies, wellness practitioners and educational institutions, with a view to building healthier, better-informed and more resilient communities. It will also spotlight health-related careers as vital drivers of national development, while drawing attention to workforce shortages in the health sector, worsened by migration and brain drain.

A distinguished line-up of speakers will headline the event. Chief Varkey Verghese, founder of Jawa Group Nigeria, will serve as chairman of the occasion, while Prof. Lere Baale, president of the Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy, will attend as guest of honour. Keynote addresses will be delivered by Hon. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, commissioner for basic and secondary education, and Prof. Akin Abayomi, commissioner for health, Lagos State; Njide Ndili, president of the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria, will also participate as a special guest.

The programme will feature a special lecture by Dr Samuel Kayode, MD/CEO of Dayspring Specialist Hospital, alongside mentorship sessions aimed at exposing secondary school students to diverse career opportunities in healthcare, particularly pharmacy and specialised medicine.

Additional highlights include an inter-school debate competition featuring selected secondary schools across Lagos State, as well as a fireside chat organised by the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria Students (PANS UNILAG). The session will bring together leading pharmaceutical professionals to discuss ethics, patient safety, product integrity and public trust in healthcare delivery.

The Integrated Health, Wellness & Education Conference is expected to serve as a transformative platform for fostering youth engagement, strengthening health awareness and advancing sustainable national development through meaningful collaboration across key sectors.
