Nigeria has recorded 195 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday, says the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.
This comes as the NCDC DG, Dr Chike Ihekweazu said Nigeria is not testing enough for the infection.
Ihekweazu, while giving situation report on Monday said :The drivers of #COVID19 are different across the country, therefore subnational understanding of transmission is critical.
“We can’t celebrate decline in national figures until we test sufficient numbers in every state”.
According to the health agency, the 195 new cases were reported from 11 states of the federation.
It further ststed that 57437 cases have been confirmed, 48674 cases have been discharged and 1100 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory,
The health agency revealed that a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response.
The agency, through its micro site stated as follows: “On the 21st of September 2020, 195 new confirmed cases and 2 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
“Till date, 57437 cases have been confirmed, 48674 cases have been discharged and 1100 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory
“The 195 new cases are reported from 11 states- Enugu (51), Gombe (40), Lagos (39), Plateau (23), FCT (15), Rivers (12), Kaduna (8), Ondo (3), Bauchi (2), Edo (1), Ogun (1)
“A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response”.
