The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), in its daily update posted on its website, said there were 296 new cases taking the total number of recorded cases to 53,317, NCDC said these had led to 1011 deaths in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Making the disclosure via its Twitter handle, the NCDC said: “As at 11:10 pm 27th of August 2020, 296 new confirmed cases and 1 death were recorded in Nigeria.
To date, 53,317 cases have been confirmed, 40,726 cases have been discharged and 1,011 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. A total of 391,502 tests have been carried out as of August 27th, 2020 compared to 388,346 tests a day earlier.

According to the NCDC, the 296 new cases were reported from 17 states- Plateau (85), Enugu (46), Oyo (31), Lagos (21), Rivers (20), FCT (15), Kaduna (13), Bauchi (12), Delta (11), Ekiti (11), Akwa Ibom (7), Ebonyi (6), Kwara (5), Ogun (4), Osun (4), Gombe (3), Niger (2).
Meanwhile, the latest numbers bring Lagos state total confirmed cases to 18,056, followed by Abuja (5,094), Oyo (3,091), Edo (2,555), Plateau (2,330), Rivers (2,128), Kaduna (2,098), Delta (1,730), Kano (1,722), Ogun (1,637), Ondo (1,524), Enugu (1,142), Ebonyi (971), Kwara (950), Osun (775), Katsina (771), Abia (759), Borno (740), Gombe (722), and Bauchi (657).
