The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), in its daily update posted on its website, said there were 476 new cases taking the total number of recorded cases to 50,964, NCDC said these had led to 992 deaths in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Making the disclosure via its Twitter handle, the NCDC said: “As at 11:10 pm 20th of August 2020, 476 new confirmed cases and 7 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

Total Number Discharged – 37,569
Total Deaths – 992
Total Tests Carried out – 366,244
According to the NCDC, the 476 new cases were reported from 18 states- Lagos (235), FCT (44), Kaduna (41), Borno (33), Plateau (28), Abia (13), Edo (13), Rivers (12), Imo (11), Oyo (10), Kano (9), Kwara (7), Enugu (5), Katsina (5), Gombe (4), Ogun (4), Nasarawa (1), Zamfara (1)
Meanwhile, the latest numbers bring Lagos state total confirmed cases to 17,327, followed by Abuja (4,881), Oyo (3,017), Edo (2,488), Plateau (2,071), Rivers (2,039), Kaduna (1,923), Kano (1,692), Delta (1,671), Ogun (1,591), Ondo (1,482), Enugu (1,030), Ebonyi (943), Kwara (920), Osun (757), Katsina (751), Abia (726), Borno (706), Gombe (688), and Bauchi (607).
