The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), in its daily update posted on its website, said there were 595 new cases taking the total number of recorded cases to 34,854 NCDC said these had led to 769 deaths in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
On the 16th of July 2020, 595 new confirmed cases and 9 deaths were recorded in Nigeria, having carried out a total daily test of 3,082 samples across the country.
According to the Agency, a total of 202,097 tests have been carried out as of July 16th, 2020 compared to 199,016 tests a day earlier.

According to the NCDC, the 595 new cases were reported from 24 states- Lagos (156), Ondo (95), Rivers (53), Abia (43), Oyo (38), Enugu (29), Edo (24), FCT(23), Kaduna (20), Akwa Ibom (17), Anambra (17), Osun (17), Ogun (14), Kano (13), Imo (11), Delta (6), Ekiti (5), Gombe (4), Plateau (4), Cross River (2), Adamawa (1), Bauchi (1), Jigawa (1), Yobe (1)
Meanwhile, the latest numbers bring Lagos state total confirmed cases to 13,097, followed by Abuja (2,7361, Oyo (1,989), Edo (1,874), Rivers (1,480), Delta (1,404), Kano (1,331), Ogun (1,146), Kaduna (1,087), Ondo (865), Katsina (669), Ebonyi (646), Plateau (595), Borno (593), Enugu (560), Gombe (537), Bauchi (522), Abia (456), Kwara (422), Imo (420).
