Nigerian Glory Eniola emerges best freshman Nursing student in US varsity |  Pulse Nigeria

An 18-year-old Nigerian, Eniola Glory, has emerged as the best student in nursing for the freshman category at the Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA.

The inscription on the award presented to her read, ‘ACADEMIC HONORS are hereby awarded to GLORY AYOBAMI ENIOLA for superior academic achievement as a member of the freshman class of Southern Illinois University Carbondale’.

Eniola, who is a twin and an indigene of Ijebu-Jesha in Osun State, in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, was grateful to God and her parents for the feat.

She promised to sustain the tempo and improve on her performance with a view to win the overall award upon completion of her course.

NAN recalls that Eniola and her twin sister, Grace, were admitted to the Southern Illinois University Carbondale, USA, during the 2022/2023 academic year to study nursing and they have since maintained unprecedented grades.

Eniola was given the award before the institution’s management team during a ceremony held for the session.

She dedicated the award to her father, Obayomi Eniola, whom she said instilled the Nigerian culture in them.

Eniola said she has always been passionate about helping people, especially in the area of health, and that she saw nursing as a career that would help her to achieve her vision.

The awardee noted that despite numerous challenges, she was determined to become the best in the nursing school of the institution.

She said, “I was surprised when I heard my name. I could not believe it and tears streamed down my face as I walked up to the podium to receive the certificate.

“I am proud of my parents, I realised that hard work and dedication is the goal in anything we strive to achieve. I felt satisfied and accomplished.”

The young lady said she was aware that her parents had worked so hard to support her education and knew for sure that they would be beaming with joy at her success.

She, however, noted that the payments of fees and tuition have always been an ordeal for them and appealed to the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke for financial support.
