– Announce Forthcoming PANS National Convention

In a show of appreciation for his continual support over the decades, executives of the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria Students (PANS) National, led by the President, Precious A. Umoren, paid a courtesy call to the Managing Director of Phamanews Limited, Pharm.(Sir) Ifeanyi Atueyi, at the Pharmanews corporate head office, Mende, Maryland, Lagos, on Thursday.

Others in attendance at the meeting were Martin U. Uyo-Obong, PANS secretary general; Mfonobong E. Umoh, PANS financial secretary; Alexander Ebere-Uke, PANS director of socials; Obayendo Temitope, online editor, Pharmanews; and Omolola Famodun, digital marketing executive, Pharmanews.

Disclosing their mission to the Pharmanews publisher, the PANS president said they officially visited to appreciate the long standing relationship, the support they have received over the years, how Pharmanews has been really instrumental to PANS National and also to announce their Annual National Convention.

“It is a known fact that you have been helping the students and you are a role model and an icon of the profession. You normally send the journal to us every month and indeed we are fortunate to have you in our midst. This is why we made it a point of duty to visit you during this our short visit to the PSN President, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa,” Umoren remarked.

Appreciating PANS executives for the courtesy visit, Pharm. Atueyi expressed his delight in meeting the PANS National executives for the first time, ascribing the possibility of the meeting to God’s plan. “It is a great opportunity for me to meet you and I am happy that the secretariat is now in Akwa Ibom State.

We in Pharmanews are happy to be part of PANS and are grateful to have PANS leadership visit us. PANS has been a great ally to us since inception,” he said.

He added that Pharmanews is so much indebted to PANS because the Sir Ifeanyi Atueyi Essay & Debate Competition, was initiated by a former PANS President of University of Benin, in his honour.

“For the first two years of the competition, the award remained in Benin, then it moved to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) from there to University of Ibadan and then stayed there for two years and back to OAU. It is moving round and we are grateful for that”, he narrated.

He explained further how Pharmanews has solidified the relationship by establishing PANSite of the Year Award, which has become an annual online poll, running for the past three years. “Yusuf Wada became winner of the maiden award, while Izukanne Emembolu won the second contest and now Martin Nwofia has just won the third one,” he said.

Umoren, also mentioned that for this year’s PANS convention, he would like to honour Sir Atueyi by organising their Convention Essay & Quiz competition in collaboration with Pharmanews, stating that his presence will also be highly appreciated.

In his response, the Pharmanews boss appreciated the idea but remarked that it would be subject to further discussion.

Giving the vote of thanks, the Online Editor appreciated the executives for taking their time to come over all the way from Uyo to Lagos. She advised them to make the upcoming conference an impactful one, such that it will be a good legacy for their administration.
