Pharm. Victor ‘Gbenga Afolabi is the Group CEO of Hazon Holdings, a conglomerate, with diversified business interests. He is also a co-founder of Wellness HMO, an organisation that has significantly improved healthcare access and well-being in Nigeria.
Born on 21 August 1977, Afolabi is a dynamic leader with over 20 years of experience spanning healthcare, finance, technology, and marketing. He oversees key sectors that impact the lives of Nigerians.
His academic journey reflects his dedication to continuous learning. He earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, followed by a Master’s degree in Managerial Psychology from the University of Ibadan. He further pursued an MBA at Manchester Business School, United Kingdom, and is currently a doctoral student at Hult Business School, Boston, United States.
Afolabi’s professional career began in 2002 as an intern with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN). In 2004, he joined Cipla Evans as a medical representative, and by 2006, he had moved to Nestlé Nigeria Plc as a brand manager. His leadership skills and entrepreneurial drive led him to co-found Wellness Pharmaceutical in 2008 with his wife, a pharmacist. Under their joint stewardship, the company has evolved into a healthcare group with diverse businesses across the healthcare value chain. His visionary leadership continues to shape Africa’s entrepreneurial landscape, inspiring and empowering future leaders to make meaningful contributions.
Afolabi is an esteemed member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), where he has served in various capacities. He was vice-chairman of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC) in 2017 and 2018 and also vice-chairman of the PSN National Conference in 2018 and 2019.
Afolabi was also a member of the CPC Media and Publicity Committee in Minna in 2016, vice-chairman of CPC Umuahia in 2017, vice-chairman of CPC Oluyole in 2018, member of the Sponsorship Committee in 2021 and 2022, and member of the 100 Years Centenary Committee in 2024.
In recognition of his contributions to the pharmaceutical profession, Afolabi has received several awards and accolades, including the Merit Award of the Lagos PSN in 2022 and the Icon of Pharmacy Award in 2018. He is also an active member and Fellow of numerous professional bodies, including the International Health Economics Association, the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Advocacy of Nigeria, and the Academy of Management (AOM) in the United States.
He is affiliated with the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, the American Marketing Association, the British Academy of Management (BAM), and the Nigerian Institute of Management.
