The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has suspended its indefinite strike, adding that the action will last two weeks from Thursday.

The President of NARD, Aliyu Sokumba, made the confirmation while speaking to Channels TV on the evening of Thursday, September 10.

Recall that Nigerian doctors had embarked on an indefinite strike to press home their demands, including insurance package, payment of the outstanding COVID-19 hazard allowances, as well as the payment of medical residency training fund.

NARD had disclosed during the meeting that it would liaise with the executive council with a view to calling off the strike.

The report said that both parties had been in talks to resolve the issues which led to NARD declaring an end to the country-wide strike.

He also faulted claims by the Federal Government that it had met six out of the eight demands listed by the association.

“We have said repeatedly that they did not meet six of our demands. What we said was that they had started work on our demands, but they have not met them”, he said.
