A study published in Nutrition Journal has found that red wine can increase the amount of sex hormone testosterone – a hormone that can increase your sexual desire, in men by blocking its excretion in urine.

The findings reported on MedicalNewsToday says, low libido can be caused by many things including relationships, stress, tiredness or even an underlying medical problem. The study shows there’s no such thing as ‘normal’ libido so it’s important to know everybody’s sex drive is different. If your low libido persists you should visit your doctor. But the research has shown a particular tipple can help boost your sex drive.

The study says that of all the alcoholic beverages you can have before sex, red wine is the only one that can actually enhance and improve your sexual experience.

A sexpert called Nadia Bokody, from Sydney said red wine in moderation can boost your testosterone. The key here is moderation, adding that drinking too much wine could actually tank your testosterone levels. “Your best bet is to stick to a glass or two with dinner’, she said.

She also advised Men and women not to drink more than 14 units a week on a regular basis. “Drinking should also be spread out over three or more days if you regularly drink as much as 14 units a week”.

According to her, drinking a moderate amount of red wine actually increases blood flow to women’s’ erogenous zones, and could increase lubrication. The study also found that women who drank red wine had a higher sex drive than those who drank another type of alcohol.

The study also found that polyphenols, which are found in red wine, as wells as berries and chocolate, can decrease instances of erectile dysfunction by 14 per cent. If that wasn’t enough, researchers also pointed out that red wine contains hhistamines, which can increase your sex drive.
