Since I heard of the gruesome murder of Pharm. Sunday Ike, at his pharmacy in Abuja, last Friday night, I have been tongue-tied, confused and depressed. Sunday was precious to me as one of the young pharmacists from our town, Okija, in Anambra State, looking up to me as their father in the Pharmacy profession. He was one of my professional disciples.

When he wanted to contest for the position of the National Publicity Secretary of the ACPN, I wholeheartedly encouraged him to put in his best there to prepare himself for a higher position in the national body. An adage says, ” Man proposes and God disposes.”

Late Pharm. Sunday Ike

The circumstances surrounding Sunday’s death are still mysterious to everyone including the Police but they are crystal clear to God Almighty, who is omniscient.

One Scripture that should rule our lives is found in 2 Corinthians 5:10 which says, ” For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad”.

Physical death is the portion of every person whether as a result of murder, or COVID-19,  drowning, or fire, hanging, or electrocution, or old age. It does not matter the cause or circumstances of death, the most important thing is the judgement seat of Christ for every mortal.

I express my sympathy to his immediate family members, Okija town, my professional colleagues, members of the ACPN, in particular, and his friends, neighbours, and clients in Abuja.

May the soul of Sunday rest in peace.
Ifeanyi Atueyi
