The former President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Pharm. Ahmed I. Yakasai, has been announced as the Chairman of Nigeria’s new international trade conference, Pharma West Africa Exhibition, for medicines, which will hold in Lagos from 4 to 6 October, 2023.
Prominent national and international healthcare professionals will be speaking to the theme of the exhibition “New frontiers in pharma, equitable healthcare and business success”, the organisers stated.
The exhibition aims to improve the public’s access to better quality medicines by looking at how to solve the challenges facing the local pharmaceutical industry and highlight opportunities to improve medicines security, supply and affordability.
In a statement made available to Pharmanewsonline, organisers of the Expo, BtoB Events – Africa’s largest trade event planner, said the it will hold at the Landmark Centre on Victoria Island, Lagos.
The Managing Director, BtoB Events, Jamie Hill revealed their delight in Pharm. Yakasai’s acceptance of the invitation to chair the inaugural conference, as he will be sharing his wealth of experience and extensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry in Nigeria with participants.
According to him “Pharm.Yakasai will bring his wealth of experience and extensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry in Nigeria to the expo, as the conference will explore the need for putting patients’ access to medicines first by driving universal health coverage and considering how the industry can meet this challenge.
“He has a wealth of experience in the field of pharmaceuticals, academia, and business, spanning more than four decades.
“His business activities include founding and chairing a number of organisations, as well as involvement in educational programmes for pharmacists at Capital City University in Kano, as well as at the Kano State University of Science and Technology in Wudill”.
