The Zamfara Government has pledged to initiate more people-friendly services in the Primary Health Care sector.

The state’s Deputy Governor, Sen. Hassan Gusau disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on the sidelines of a Health System Review meeting, held on Thursday in Abuja.

The Health System Review meeting was for Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Jigawa, Gombe, Taraba, Niger and Bayelsa states.

The review meeting tagged: ”The Second Bi-annual Health System Review meeting and review of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)”, was organised by Global Vaccine Alliance and Nigeria Governors Forum.

Gusau expressed the state government’s commitment to more people-friendly primary health care services.

“When we came on board, three and half years ago, the Governor met a lot of issues which were critical.

“Now that the governor is being courageous, he has made a lot of sacrifices, a lot of changes in which he gave all the security agencies all their needs, and this has made the state to be safe.

“A lot of miners are now applying to come to Zamfara to see that they mine in the state, based on the abundant resources which God has given the state.

“On the issue of the state PHC, a lot of achievements had been made in spite of the security situation, there is nothing that has been abandoned in terms of health.

“Health is part of wealth, you can’t perform other logistics if you don’t have it, once health has been taken care of, you are good to go,” he said.

Gusau said that a committee that he headed, comprising of police, army, emirs, repentant bandits and other officers were inaugurated to fight social vices in the state.

The deputy governor said that the committee had been able to restore peace to an appreciable extent in the state.

Gusau said that the state government would continue to initiate more people-friendly services in the area of primary health care.

”By the end of the first tenure of the governor, the people will judge for themselves if the governor will come back in 2023 going by the projects the government has done,” he said.
