ALPs National Excos Visit Adelusi-Adeluyi, Okoli, Awosika

Ahead of its 15th National Biennial Conference holding in Lagos from 5 to 11 June, 2022, the leadership of the Association of Lady Pharmacists (ALPs) National, has paid courtesy visits to patron and matrons of the interest group of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) in Lagos. The  Pharmacy icons visited are : Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, president, Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy and chairman Juli Plc; Dr (Mrs) Stella Okoli, GMD, Emzor Group; and Dr (Mrs) Dere Awosika, MFR, chairman, Access bank.

The ALPs executives used the visits to glean from the wealth of experiences of these elders, as well as sought their counsels on their forthcoming ALPs National Biennial Conference, tagged “EKO 2022”. The leaders in return made different invaluable commitments towards the programme in terms of financial and physical supports.

The National Chairman, ALPs, Pharm. (Mrs) Victoria Ukwu, who led other executives on the different visits intimated their hosts on the activities of the group and progress made under her watch, such as the Project 91, which deals on medicinal plant research; ALPs School project; Sponsorship of girl child education, and others.

Speaking on the 15th Biennial National Conference billed for 5 to 11 June, 2022, the Chairman, Conference Planning Committee, Dr Monica Eimunjeze, said the venue of the conference is Radisson Blu Hotel, and the theme is “Pharmaceutical value chain, for optimal utilisation- where are we? While the keynote speaker will be Pharm. (Mrs) Clare Omatseye, managing director – JNC International Limited.

Receiving the lady pharmacists in his office, Prince Adelusi-Adeluyi walked them down memory lane, recalling his great roles towards the establishment of the association. He reminisced on how ALPs was birthed on his table with the founding mothers, how he chose the name ALPs among several alternatives, as he expressed his delight in the sustenance of such efforts.

While he pledged his presence at the conference, he disclosed his desire to see the executives again after the conference, as a means of reviewing resolutions reached at the programme, saying it is imperative for them to follow up on decisions made at such conference.

As a father figure, he counselled them on how to endear themselves to the parent Pharmacy body, through deliberate efforts in donating tangible amount of money to PSN.

Also receiving the Alpians, the Emzor Group boss appreciated them for coming specially to her office, as she pledged to support the programme with a notable financial support.

Dr Okoli recalled her previous contributions to the association’s project, saying she is not relenting, as they are ready to do more in partnering with ALPs for the betterment  of more women and girls in the society.

The Executive Director, Emzor Group,  Mrs Uzoma Ezeoke, particularly referred to ALPs project of girl child sponsorship, as she urged them to do more in that area assuring them of Emzor Group's willingness to assist in that aspect. She also emphasised the need for more lady pharmacists to take up leadership roles in the profession, as it is obvious that there are more female pharmacists than males, but just a few of them in leadership in the profession.

For Dr Awosika, she expressed her profound gratitude towards the visit, saying she is encouraged to do more with ALPs, despite her several engagements in the corporate world. It was on this note she willingly accepted the chairmanship position of the coming conference.
