Anambra PSN Tasks Hospital Pharmacists on Professionalism

Towards uplifting Pharmacy practice in Anambra State, the Chairman, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Anambra Chapter, Pharm. Johesephat Obasi, has urged members of Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN) to be more ethically minded in their practice.

He identified available means to sharpen their professional skills such as the continuous education platform, which he said will keep them updated regularly.

Obasi, who pledged to support the group financially, however enjoined them to be more committed to the activities of the chapter, including training of younger pharmacists.

Being the special guest at the Anambra AHAPN first meeting of the year 2021, he emphasised the need for pharmacists to pay close attention to the affairs of the state branch.

He said: “There is need for continuous updating of your knowledge base, while taking time to train younger pharmacists adequately. As much as I have the opportunity, I will assist this technical group in revenue generation and leading the advocacy for better call rooms in our state teaching hospitals.

“ I want to also urge you all to show more seriousness to the affairs of this technical group and the PSN in general as we have no other profession to call our own”.

Earlier on, the Chairman, Anambra State AHAPN, Pharm. (Dr) Amara Nwaka, expressed her gratitude to God for making the meeting a possibility, while she also appreciated members for their commitment in the previous year.

She highlighted some of their objectives for the year to include advocacy visits to important personalities, implementation of consultancy status allowance, the availability of the state AHAPN bye laws, addressing issues surrounding NUAHP, payment of State and National AHAPN dues and the National AHAPN Conference to be held in Kwara State come August, 2021.

The AHAPN Chairman, however challenged all members to bring new zeal and enthusiasm into the group’s operations in order to have a successful year.

“ Since a tree cannot make a forest, I want to solicit the cooperation of everyone of you for the state branch to record a huge success at the end of the year”, she pleaded.
