How NAPPSA’s B-2-B Framework will Boost Growth of Nigerian Health Sector - Ezirim

President, Nigeria Association of Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Scientists in the Americas (NAPPSA) Pharm. Emmanuel Ezirim, has said his vision for the group is to raise the endowment fund to the desired one million dollars.

Ezirim who disclosed that the association has already got $800,000 plus, assured that his administration will raise it to the expected one million dollars by next year.

He made the disclosure to pharmanewsonline in an exclusive interview at the 17th Annual Scientific Conference of NAPPSA, held in Colombus, Ohio, recently.

“We have $800,000 plus, and we want it to hit one million dollars.

“By this time next year, I am going to ensure that we have hit that one million dollars mark. Through that endowment, we are going to source other things, and build the house, where the NAPPSA Institute will be situated”, he stated.

The NAPPSA President, also known as Edoggy, explained how he has been part of the founding members of the association, who came together with a vision to influence the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry in Nigeria for efficient services.

This he said, was what birthed the NAPPSA’s 10-year plan, during the tenure of the former President, Dr Anthony Ikeme, and the group has been implementing the plan since the,

He said “I have been part of the concept of NAPPSA from the onset; we wanted to find a way to have influence in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry in Nigeria, to make things efficient.

“ We wanted efficient delivery of healthcare system from patient care to drug delivery. And over the years, we kept growing, and four years ago, Anthony Ikeme, president emeritus, drew a 10-year plan. And that has been guiding our operations since then”.

Ezirim also hinted on other progress made by the association, saying they have already published the first peer review journal, which has been endorsed by the Ohio State University. Through the endowment, he said they are going to work with bigger organisations like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Macdonald Foundation, co-sponsor studies relating to Blacks.

Aside the bigger organisations, he noted that NAPPSA is looking forward to sustain all the collaborations it has established in Nigeria, with the PSN, PCN, NIPRD, NAFDAC, ACPN, NAIP, AHAPN, and others.
