Senator Abiola Ajimobi, former governor of Oyo State from 2011 to 2019, has been confirmed dead, after battling the deadly Coronavirus for about a month.
The former Oyo governor was said to have died at the age of 70 at the First Cardiologist and Cardiovascular Consultants Hospital, Lagos.
Although rumours of his death had circulated on social media about a week, but it was debunked by his family members, who said he was in a critical condition in hospital admission.
While he was still on admission, he was named the Acting National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress last week but couldn’t resume due to his health condition.
Sources confirmed to Pharmanewsonline that he was hospitalised at First Cardiologist and Cardiovascular Consultants Hospital, Lagos on June 2, 2020.
The late Ajimobi was said to be diabetic, an ailment that worsen his COVID-19 case, which eventually led to his death, as doctors battled his to safe his life to no avail.
He was said to have been confirmed positive earlier and was managing the situation at home before the illness worsened and he had to go to a hospital.
Ajimobi’s wife, Florence, had earlier been hospitalised with her husband. She was, however, discharged.
