Breaking: Gov Sanwo-Olu goes into self-isolation

The Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has gone into self-isolation on Friday after one of his aides tested positive for COVID-19.

Lagos State Ministry of Health made the disclosure through its verified Twitter.

It stated: “Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu will go into self-isolation immediately, after one of his close aides tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday (10th of December)”.

This is coming as the state witnessed a surge in COVID-19 daily confirmed infections this week against limited cases recorded in previous weeks.

Earlier on, Sanwo-Olu has directed reopening of different Isolation centres in the state for the treatment of infected persons.

Giving situational update on the level of infection as of December 9, Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, Prof.Akin Abayomi said total number of #COVID19 tests conducted so far in Lagos now stands at 182,207.

“2,591 of the confirmed cases have since been discharged from ##COVID19 care centres following full recovery.

“20,317 of the confirmed cases monitored in communities by #COVID19 Lagos Response.
“20 of the cases are currently under isolation in public and private #COVID19 care centres.

“1,250 active cases in communities are been managed under the COVID-19 Lagos home based care programme and they are receiving treatment via EkoTelemed services” he stated.
