On 1 December 1960, amidst the joy and jubilation in the Yakasai’s community of Kano, Nigeria, a beacon of excellence, leadership, and dedication was born. Pharm. Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai, a distinguished pharmacist, a leader par excellence, and a man of unwavering character and charisma, embarked on a journey destined for greatness from his very first breath.

As an alumnus of the esteemed Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Pharm. Yakasai’s academic pursuits paved the way for a legacy spanning various continents and disciplines. With his fervour for knowledge, he adorned his repertoire with experiences from Fudan University in China to learn entrepreneurship, the University of South Africa/Metropolitan to learn Islamic Banking, and the University of Salford, Manchester, United Kingdom to learn about International Marketing with bias in Social Media Marketing.

His unwavering commitment to the pharmaceutical realm led to the inception of Pharmaplus Nigeria Limited, Multiplus Consulting, and Multiplus Resources Limited, laying the groundwork for innovative approaches in the industry. Notably, his visionary leadership in the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), culminating in his presidency from 2015 to 2018, showcased his dedication to advancing the profession.

Pharm. Yakasai’s journey through the corridors of both public and private sectors has been nothing short of extraordinary. His tenure as Commissioner of Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives, and Tourism, in Kano State, followed by his pivotal role in the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning during the administration of His Excellency, Senator Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, CON, Sardaunan Kano, showcased not just his administrative prowess but also his unwavering commitment to service

Yet, his impact extends far beyond government offices. Ahmed Yakasai’s vision led to the founding of the Safe Medicines Foundation, an organisation dedicated to ensuring the safety and accessibility of medicines for all. His role as a Board Member/Trustee at the Society for Family Health (SFH), the Board Member of Nigerian Association of Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Scientists in the Americas (NAPPSA) and Chairman, Yakasai Zumunta Development Association underscores his commitment to healthcare and societal well-being.

His accolades, from being a Fellow of esteemed institutions like the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy, West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists, the Nigerian Institute of Management and Member National Institute (NIPSS) among others illuminate a career built on excellence, dedication, and expertise.

Pharm. Yakasai’s profound influence extends beyond borders. As the Honorary Consul – General of Pakistan in Nigeria, his diplomatic prowess fostered stronger ties between nations, reflecting his global vision and leadership acumen.

His illustrious career and benevolent nature have not only garnered admiration but have also inspired countless individuals, earning him the moniker of mentor, teacher, and father figure. His wisdom, humility, and sense of humour serve as guiding stars for both seasoned professionals and aspiring youngsters.

Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai embodies this ethos, harnessing the silent strength of character and integrity that reverberates through his actions and deeds.
