Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire

Ehanire also noted that findings from the analysis of death pattern showed that 70 percent to 30 percent of male and female are the death ratio respectively.

“ Findings from the analysis of the death patterns showed 70 per cent to 30 per cent for male and female around that ratio and about 70 per cent fatalities were persons who are 60 years old while a majority of positives were between the ages of 29 and 49; those are the most active ages in life.

“The core morbidity of the fatalities we have had to COVID -19, 70 percent of them have hypertension, or diabetes, and the rest were kidney disease, HIV, cancer, tuberculosis, and other sundry challenges” he added.

Ehanire said their curious findings from the analysis of the deaths showed that nearly half of them died at home, adding that of those who died at home, about 50 percent did not show any symptoms.

“This underscores my earlier emphasis on the need for those who test positive to report for treatment”.

Advising those who have taken the test and awaiting their results, the minister of health said they should heed to the advisory of self-isolations from friends, wear face masks and observe hand and respiratory hygiene until their result is out so that their community and those around them will not necessarily be exposed.
