Emir of Kano to Turban Yakasai on Monday, June 26

The Kano Emirate Council has announced the programmes for the installation and turbaning of a former President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Pharm. Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai, and eight others. They will be turbaned on Monday, 26 June, 2023, at Kano Emir’s Palace, Kofar Kudu, Kano at 9.00am.

In a statement sent to Pharmanewsonline by Yakasai, it was noted that the turbaning ceremony will be presided by the Emir of Kano, His Highness Alhaji (Dr) Aminu Ado Bayero.

The turbaning ceremony, which is open for the attendance of the general public, will be followed by the splendid pomp and pageantry.

Yakasai is an accomplished pharmacist/independent consultant with comprehensive background in pharmaceutical fields and International Marketing with bias in Search and Social Media marketing and Public-Private Partnerships. He has a long distinguished career in various fields of Pharmacy, Healthcare Research, Oil and Gas, Engineering and Construction and Regulatory Affairs with over 40 years experience.

He is the Consul-General of Pakistan in Nigeria and Founder/CEO, Pharmaplus Nigeria Ltd, Multiplus Resource Ltd, Blue Quest Engineering and Construction Co. Ltd, A & J Agro Logistics, and Chairman, Safe Medicines Foundation.

He obtained his first degree in Pharmacy from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1983) and so many postgraduate courses including International Marketing, Search and Social Media Marketing- 2014/2015, from University of Salford, Manchester, UK. Attended the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, SEC 42, 2020 and graduated with Member National Institute (mni) on 12 December 2020.

Yakasai worked variously in both public and private sectors. He was two terms Commissioner in Kano State. First, he was Commissioner of Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives and Tourism, 2005-2010, and was redeployed to the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning, 2010-2011. He is a community leader as former Chairman of Yakasai Zumunta Development Association and former Vice-President, Kano Chamber of Commerce.

The former PSN President is a board member/trustee, Society for Family Health (SFH), 2004 to date, independent director, NEM Insurance Plc, chairman, Board of Directors, Evans Baroque (Owners of Evans Medical Plc), board member, Clearline HMO, board member of ARFH, chairman of the Board of Directors of SFH Access Health Ltd/Gte and board member of Nigerian Association of Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Scientists in the Americas (NAPPSA).

He is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Fellow of Institute of Logistics Management of Nigeria, Fellow of Chartered Institute of Commerce, Fellow of Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy, Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists, Fellow of Nigerian Institute of Management, Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Chemists, and Fellow of Professional Excellence Foundation of Nigeria etc.

Yakasai is a great pharmacist with a formidable network of friends and associates across the country and abroad. He holds several traditional titles including : Enyi Dioranma, Kpakpando 1, Nwanne D’Namba 1, Amanyanabo Ikiabo of Kala Ogoloma and Onigba Ndi Ogwu 1, among others.
