It was a very colourful and memorable occasion for the former President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Pharm. Ahmed I. Yakasai, when he was turbaned as the Kachalla of Kano by the Emir of Kano Emirate, His Highness, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, on Monday.
The historic event, was graced by prominent personalities from all walks of life, including Col Maimalari Sadiq Abubakar, former Military Governor of Jigawa State; Pharm. Sani Ali, chairman, PSN, Kano State; His Excellency, Alhaji Mutari A, Daura, consul general of Benin Republic; Navy Commodore Usman M. Bugaje; Alhaji Mustapha Garba, Dan Darman Sokoto; Alhaji Bashir Hussaini Adamu, Danburan of Kazaure, among others.
Conducting the ceremonial rites for the new title holder, Chief Imam of Kano, prayed God to give long life, sound health and wisdom to the new Kachalla to accomplish responsibilities ahead of him.
Explaining reasons for the selection of Yakasai as the new Kachalla, the Emir of Kano said Yakasai merited the position in view of his invaluable contributions to the upliftment of the emirate and the less privileged in the society.
“We also cherish his contributions as a former Commissioner of Commerce, Industry, Cooperative and Tourism; Commissioner of Land and Physical Planning; President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria and now as an Ambassador at the Pakistan Consulate General office in Nigeria”, he stated.
In his appreciation to the Emir for the honour bestowed him, the new Kachalla of Kano, expressed his profound gratitude to the emirate as he accepted the new title wholeheartedly.
Acknowledging the enormity of the responsibility in the title, he prayed God to guard and guide him at all times in the discharge of the expected duties .
He said “I want to assure His Highness and people of Kano, that I will do my best to continue to serve Kano and Nigerians in general”
He also solicited the cooperation and prayers of all stakeholders to discharge his duties as expected..

He has a long distinguished career in various fields of Pharmacy, Healthcare Research, Oil and Gas, Engineering and Construction and Regulatory Affairs with over 40 years experience.
The Kachalla of Kano is the latest addition to his array of traditional titles including Enyi Dioranma, Kpakpando 1; Nwanne D’Namba 1; Amanyanabo Ikiabo of Kala Ogoloma; and Onigba Ndi Ogwu 1, among others.
