Zobo drink, known in many Nigerian homes is a very healthy drink, with several useful properties. Studies have found that it is not only capable of curing diseases but also effectively fights against excess weight.
The name is derived from the name of the parent plant called Zoborodo (in the Hausa language), Ghanaians refer to it as Zobolo, while Hibiscus sabdariffa is the scientific name of zobo.
Hibiscus sabdariffa is a species of Hibiscus probably native to West and East Africa and South-East Asia including Northeastern India.
The main essence of this plant are the leaves as mixing it with different grades, drink turns tasty, colourful, and pleasant. People believe that the Hibiscus has its own certain force.
A food coach in New York City and a M.S., certified dietician nutritionist, Dana James said while solids are obviously a major source of calories and fat, the liquids you take in can also affect the scale in a big way. She added that it’s so sneaky because it’s such a subtle effect and that is why people don’t evaluate what they drink in the same way, so they don’t realize how much they’re consuming.
“If you want to lose weight, you have to watch what you drink. So, if you want to reduce your body weight, you need to consume drinks that are calorie-free and that will boost your body metabolism”, she added.
According to scientific findings, the effectiveness of zobo drink for weight loss shows that fat metabolism was found to increase on the administration of Hibiscus extracts resulting in weight reduction.
