“You will recall that in September, we launched the Medlab West Africa 2023 as a component of Medic West Africa that has been holding in Nigeria the last 10 years and you will agree with me that it has been a huge success – It’s the largest gathering of Medical laboratory professionals in Nigeria, till date. But 2024 is going to be huge because we have a single component this time around, different from Medic West Africa. It’s going to be the largest gathering of Medlab professionals across the West African sub region. So we’ll be seeing professionals from Niger, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal visit us here in the city of Lagos”, he said.

Dr Odfili further stated that, as an agency of government, the MLSCN is collaborating with Informa Market to create value in the Nigerian healthcare sector through innovative ideas and partnerships that would unlock the problem-solving potentials of stakeholders in the sector for optimal performance.

He said, “The MLSCN collaborating with Informa markets to hold the Medlab West Africa 2024 is an initiative seeking to unlock immeasurable potential of the medical laboratory sector and why do I say so? Considering the state of health sector in Nigeria, it is imperative to fashion a new direction to enable the sector to live up to expectation. It’s a time for bringing new ideas in terms of advocacy, in terms of research, and in terms of exhibition.”

Ofili also described the interest of MLSCN in this collaboration thus: “Our mission as a council is to be the best within the region and of course, ensure that our stakeholders are aware of what we’re doing as a council. So, this collaboration is going to be very impactful in terms of reaching out to stakeholders to ensure that we have the right environment to practice as a profession, the right environment for stakeholders to do business in terms of IVDs, of course the right environment for this kind of interaction among professionals.”
