-As stakeholders gather for West Africa’s Premier Medical Event

Preparations are in top gear for WHX Lagos and WHX Labs Lagos 2025, West Africa’s leading healthcare and laboratory science event, which will take place from 2–4 June, 2025 at the Landmark Centre, Lagos. The Minister of Health, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, is set to officially open the three-day event, which is poised to shape the future of healthcare across the region.
Formerly known as Medic West Africa and Medlab West Africa, the rebranded WHX Lagos and WHX Labs Lagos enters its 12th year with a renewed focus on innovation, inclusivity, and cross-sector collaboration. The event is expected to attract thousands of stakeholders, including policymakers, clinicians, investors, laboratory scientists, innovators, and health influencers.
“This edition builds on a strong foundation of trust and international relevance,” said Tom Coleman, Director of WHX Lagos and WHX Labs Lagos. “We’re especially excited about the diversity of this year’s speaker lineup, which reflects our commitment to convening a pan-African, multidisciplinary conversation.”
The 2025 edition will feature high-profile speakers and thought leaders from across the continent. Among them are: Professor Nicaise Ndembi, deputy director-general at the International Vaccine Institute, Dr Mories Atoki, CEO of the African Business Coalition for Health (ABCHealth) and Dr Anthony L. Fortune, Liberia’s Assistant Minister of Health for Vital Statistics. Others are: Timi Omole, Executive Director of the International Association of Public Health Logisticians, Joke Silva, MFR, celebrated Nigerian actor and entrepreneur and Dr Egemba Chinonso (Aproko Doctor), prominent health influencer.
On the laboratory side, WHX Labs Lagos will spotlight top-tier experts such as: Professor Oyewale Tomori, acclaimed virologist and former WHO advisor Dr Donald Ofili, Acting Registrar/CEO of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), Akyala Ishaku, Director of the Global Health and Infectious Diseases Centre as well as Kenneth Okolie, CEO of Synlab Nigeria
With a robust lineup of expert-led panels, interactive sessions, and innovation showcases, the event will cover critical themes including digital health, diagnostics, investment, public health leadership, and sustainable healthcare models. These conversations aim to generate actionable insights and catalyze policy and system-level change.
