The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has refuted claims circulating in the media about the appointment of Mr Idowu Goodnews Oluwaseyi as the director-general of the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD).

In a press release allegedly issued by the State House and attributed to Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, falsely announced the new appointment.

The Ministry clarified on Monday that this information is entirely untrue and baseless.

Patricia Deworitshe, director of Information and Public Relations for the ministry, confirmed that Dr Obi Adigwe remains the current director-general of NIPRD.

The ministry emphasised the importance of disregarding such misleading reports and reassured the public that there has been no change in the institute’s leadership.

The ministry’s statement underscores its commitment to maintaining transparency and combating the spread of misinformation.
