-Holds Week-long event to highlight patient-centricity efforts.
Poised to reaffirm its allegiance to all patients across the globe, Pfizer is organising a week-long awareness campaign, from 4 to 8 October, 2021, to accentuate the position of patients in healthcare delivery services, especially as it relates to their pharmaceutical products.
With the theme: “Patients are Our Why”, ‘Patients in Focus’ signifies a renewal of Pfizer’s commitment to serving patients and to achieve their goal of being the most patient-centric company.
Pfizer’s initiative is another avenue to promote patient care, which refers to the prevention, treatment, management of illness and the preservation of physical and mental well-being through services offered by health professionals. Patient care consists of services rendered by health professionals or non-professionals for the benefit of patients.
In his remarks at the flagging off of the campaign in Lagos, Pfizer’s Nigeria Manager and Cluster Lead West Africa, Olayinka Subair said “Our focus is always on the patients as we deploy resources to bring treatments that extend and significantly improve their lives. We consistently seek to collaborate with stakeholders to support and expand access to reliable, affordable healthcare in communities all around”.
He further explained the modus operandi of the pharma multinational company and how they have planned to make the ‘Patients in Focus Week’ an unforgettable experience for every patient in the world.
“We are made up of many local markets and differing functions, but our purpose at Pfizer is global: to develop breakthroughs that change patients’ lives. For our work to be meaningful, every function of Pfizer needs to understand the importance of engaging patients, caregivers, and advocates in our work.
“Patients in Focus week will showcase where we have made an impact on patients’ lives and empower colleagues to learn from each other and continue putting the patient first in everything we do”, Subair stated.
Emphasizing the place of patient advocacy within pharmaceutical work, Subair noted that it is critical to ensure patients’ lives are being changed. A patient in Focus is an opportunity for Pfizer to further their ongoing commitment to patients by ensuring all Pfizer employees have the knowledge and resources to incorporate patient voices into their work. This effort, led by the Global Patient Advocacy Team, brings Pfizer one step closer in the goal of being the most patient-centric company and to achieve health equity.
The Pfizer’s Country Manager also highlighted other benefits of the week to the pharma giant and patients, saying its affords the Pfizer’s team a platform for sharing global success stories and best practices that empower and inspire all, as well as allow them host and participate in a variety of activities and events that projects the importance of patients in pharmaceutical projects.
