WASPEN Partners with National Hospital Abuja for Pioneering Clinical Nutrition Conference

The West African Society of Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition (WASPEN) and the National Hospital Abuja (NHA) are collaborating to host the transformative WASPEN 2025 Clinical Nutrition Conference. Scheduled for June 17–19, 2025, the conference will take place at the Trauma Centre, National Hospital Abuja, under the theme: “Bridging the Gap: Integrating Hospital and Community Malnutrition Care in Developing Countries.”

The event will feature a high-profile line-up of dignitaries and experts in the fields of healthcare and nutrition. The Minister of Health, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, will grace the occasion as the special guest of honour. The Chief Host, Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), along with Prof. Muhammad Raji Mahmud, chief medical director of the National Hospital, will formally welcome participants.

In a statement released by the President of WASPEN, Dr Teresa Isichei Pounds, the conference boasts an impressive array of keynote speakers, including: Dr (Prof.) Bala Audu, president, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA); Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola, former vice-chancellor, Chrisland University; Tajudeen Olutope Ahmed Esq., national president, Institute of Dietetics in Nigeria

The event will be chaired by Prof. Cyril Usifoh, immediate past president of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN). Leading the organising committees are Pharm. Nanret Blessing Basil Ghinsel as chairperson of the Central Planning Committee (CPC) and Pharm. Clara Adesola as chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC).

The conference will also host esteemed leaders such as:Pharm. Ibrahim Tanko Ayuba, president, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN); Professor Salisu Maiwada Abubakar, president, Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN); Comr.
