WHO Officially Names Coronavirus as ‘Covid-19′

The World Health Organisation on Tuesday has christened the deadly Wuhan’s Coronavirus as “Covid-19” , which was first reported on 31 December in Wuhan, China.

“We now have a name for the disease and it’s Covid-19,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told reporters in Geneva, explaining that “co” stood for “corona”, “vi” for “virus” and “d” for “disease”.

Meanwhile, the agency  has issued a warning to all health institutions and practitioners to be wary of criminals who are disguising themselves as WHO to steal money or sensitive information from unsuspecting citizens.

“If you are contacted by a person or organisation that appears to be from WHO, verify their authenticity before responding”, the agency cautioned.
