- Commends Agency’s Fight Against Falsified Medicines
The leadership of the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN) has commended Prof. Moji Adeyeye, the director general of NAFDAC for the modest achievements of the agency in the fight against fake, adulterated and counterfeit products, noting that the efforts of the agency have gone a long way to safeguard the lives of Nigerians.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the NAFDAC head office in Isolo, Lagos, Dr Kingsley Chiedu Amibor, national chairman, AHAPN also praised the NAFDAC DG for her commitment to fighting the menace of drugs and substance abuse, which he said has assumed a monstrous dimension in recent times and continues to take its tolls on the health and economy of the nation.
The AHAPN helmsman told the NAFDAC leadership led by the DG that members of his group have been actively involved in the fight against drug and substance abuse in Nigeria, adding that AHAPN has a dedicated committee on drug and substance abuse that is fully engaged in the societal collaboration against drug and substance abuse and determined to reduce the scourge to the barest minimum.
The AHAPN leader also intimated the NAFDAC boss that pharmacists working with NAFDAC are automatic members of his group and are expected to participate in all AHAPN organised activities and functions and implore the DG to encourage pharmacists to begin to identify with the activities of AHAPN.
In her response, the NAFDAC DG commended AHAPN for its efforts against drug and substance abuse, noting that professionals and indeed all Nigerians must work together to fight the menace.
Prof. Adeyeye reiterated the commitment of NAFDAC to continue the fight against falsified drugs and assured the AHAPN leadership that she will encourage pharmacists with the NAFDAC to participate in the Association’s activities.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of excellent leadership award to the DG NAFDAC by AHAPN.
